The Opening

It has been a long time since my last blogging. The last time I did this was in Year 2006 in MySpace. I started in Year 2005 while living in Beijing, when MSN was gaining momentum among the Chinese QQ population and people around me - up, down, left, right, front and back - are having MSN accounts and MySpace. Being 'center', I better coped with the mass.

At that moment my blog only served me two purposes: A place for me to mark down all the quotation I liked and the article I want to keep, and, like many others, an 'open diary' for all to share pieces of my life. 2 Years later, the blogsphere did not change much, but I did. The first blog has long been shut down but my story continued.

Year 2008, I came back to Malaysia for good. KennySia, Jeff Ooi and Xiaxue are all the rages. While Kenny and Xiaxue won the popular contest, it's Jeff Ooi who blogged his way to a MP seat that showed what 3rd Media can do. Blog is no longer just a new kid of the Web block, it's now, together with YouTube, the king of the Web 2.0 era. My nephews and nieces in kampung year 12 and above all have fancier handphone, longer MSN nickname with star and flowers and revealing blogs that it makes me feel so old. Nonetheless, for many moments in 2008 when I was encouraged to be blogger again, I did not give it a second thought, considering it the toy of the "generation-Z". Thanks to haanism, I think it's about time for me to pick up this old 'casual hobby' again.

The reasons I did not have much passion with blogging are 1. I think too fast to write; by the time I'm ready to write, the zeal has faded, 2. I'm not the writer type, and 3. what can I write about except that whatever I can share, it'll only be about me, my experience and my life? But alas I guess 'Me Generation' mentality is in all of us and sharing is the best way to make friends, I guess. So let me get re-acquainted with my fellow Malaysians with blogs, and so I shall begin: In Blog I Shall...
1. mark down all the interesting pieces and quotation I encounter that is worth sharing with all, as that's my #1 casual hobby
2. write my diary on moving-forward basis, to put what i see, feel and think into permanent record in a way as entertaining as possible so as not to bore most readers (whom I expect to be friends and colleagues only anyway)
3. reflect on my past to show do's and don'ts to hopeful future generation (Nuh! I'm not that noble. This is partly inspired by Kenny. I like his early posts on the Perth Reflection)
4. make fun of myself and others to entertain the mass, because I believe the happiness doubles with laughters but I don't believe in halving the sorrow.
5. to practise my English writing. Gosh, 4 years of Asian living, constant Cantonese speaking and 'technical-only' writing, my English literacy level has dropped so much I can't bear to tell people where I graduated from (not that I was great before)

Till next time... Bon jour.
